We have worked with universities and colleges to provide homes for more than 5,000 students since 2006, including in key cities such as London, Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Sheffield, Birmingham, Norwich, and Bristol.

The University of Leeds accommodates 29% of its full-time students in halls of residence, and Leeds Beckett houses 30%. This leaves a high percentage of students renting privately, and more Purpose Built Student Accommodation will free up family homes for their intended purpose.

We are proposing a six and part seven storey building which will provide 411 bedrooms for students, alongside student amenities including a lounge, gym, laundry, study rooms, and workshop space. The plans also include a roof terrace and courtyard for residents. Artists’ studios on the ground floor will be available for the wider community’s use, and an improved streetscape will be enjoyed by both residents and public.

Alumno have years of experience in Purpose Built Student Accommodation developments and all their projects are managed by a 24/7 Facility Management team. We have had a management plan written up as part of the planning application that went to Leeds City Council, which will prevent any problems that could be caused by a higher student population. This includes each student having a contract with the accommodation that can be revoked at any time due to antisocial behaviour. 

We submitted a planning application to Leeds City Council in May 2020 following a successful period of consultation with the council, public, and local stakeholders. We look forward to hearing a decision on our proposals in due course.

A public exhibition of the proposals was held In February 2020 and members of the public were able to ask the project team any questions and give feedback via a questionnaire in person or online. All feedback was considered before finalising the proposals to be submitted to Leeds City Council.

We submitted a planning application to Leeds City Council in May 2020. If granted planning permission we aim to begin construction on site by the end of 2020.
